SOME BUDGET-FRIENDLY PLACES TO VISIT ON NEGROS DAY!

CINCO DE NOVIEMBRE

First of all, what is Cinco de Noviembre? On this day, an uprising led to the surrender of the Spanish troops in the province and the establishment of the short-lived Negros Republic reuniting Negros Occidental and Oriental. Al Cinco de Noviembre is celebrated to commemorate the Negrenses’ revolt against the Spanish colonizers on November 5, 1898. This 2022 marks the 124th year celebration of the Cinco de Noviembre also known as Negros Day.

CASA A. GAMBOA

Now that you’ve been refreshed about what this holiday is all about, let’s get to the fun part. Every year, Casa A. Gamboa holds their annual Adobo Festival. This 2022 marks their 26th annual celebration. They offer a wide variety of different Adobo dishes and you may find unique, tasty dishes that you haven’t thought of before. If you ever don’t feel like eating adobo, there are also food booths of well-known establishments all the way from Bacolod such as Pasabor, Marf’s Grill, and Damgo.

Aside from the food, you can expect some activities throughout the day to make it worth your while as you enjoy chowing down on your food. Down below is the schedule of activities that transpire for the duration of the two days. You’ll be sure to catch some celebrity chefs during the cooking demonstration. After each demonstration, you are able to taste the food they have prepared. It’s not everyday you are able to eat the food created by famous chefs, right?

BALAY PUTI

If you don’t feel like staying for the whole day at Casa A. Gamboa, and wanting to go somewhere else for coffee, head down to Stephen’s at Balay Puti. If you’re familiar with this place but not sure about its location, especially if you’re from Bacolod, here’s the map below.

Here they are having their event called Tipon-Tipon. They have “Merienda, Kape, Beer, Banda… Kag damo pa!” For coffee lovers, 19th Street Coffee joins the event all the way from Bacolod. I recommend pairing their coffee with the Carbonara from Balay Puti’s menu. It's so good!

Balay Puti also offers cocktails should you ever stay the night with your friends while jamming to the songs sung by the band.

If you haven’t experienced going out on Cinco de Noviembre, this is your sign! You can still have fun at either of these places while still on a budget. So if you’re interested in this blog, go tell your friends or family to plan out ahead for next year’s holiday. Don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comment section below.
